What are the responsibilities and job description for the Insurance Verification Specialist - Physical Therapy position at Total Orthopaedic Care - Physical Therapy?
Total orthopaedic care is looking for an experienced medical billing specialist who is trained in the insurance verification and preauthorization process for physical therapy services. An ideal candidate should also have experience in handling and processing medical denials. Together with the front office manager, the candidate will keep up to date records on ensuring that patients being treated have been authorized for skilled care and that any denials be processed in a timely manner.
- Verifies patient insurance eligibility and benefits by means of Internet resources or manually procuring information from the insurance carrier.
- Conveys information regarding procedure codes and diagnostic codes in order to receive correct referrals for office visits and pre authorization for physical therapy treatment.
- Communicates and coordinates with interoffice personnel to procure correct and detailed information regarding all referrals and authorizations.
- Updates and informs all parties involved of any insurance or procedural changes regarding authorizations or office visit referrals.
- Obtains all referrals and authorizations for all PT office visits.
- Reviewing patient bills for accuracy and completeness, and obtaining any missing information.
- Preparing, reviewing, and transmitting claims using billing software, including electronic and paper claim processing.
- Following up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle timeframe.
- Checking each insurance payment for accuracy and compliance with contract discount.
- Researching and appealing denied claims.
- Answering all patient or insurance telephone inquiries pertaining to assigned accounts.
- Setting up patient payment plans and work collection accounts.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $12.00 - $16.00 per hour
