Veterinary Assistant

Total Veterinary Care in Cicero, NY, is looking for a Full-Time EXPERIENCED veterinary assistant / non-licensed tech to join our team in a fast-paced, busy day practice. Our ideal candidate is a positive self-starter who is motivated to learn and engage with their team and clients.

HIRING RANGE: starting between $15.50-18/hr, commensurate with experience

SCHEDULE: Must be available a minimum of 30 hours/week (up to 40) and able to work a rotating Saturday schedule.

HOSPITAL HOURS: Mon - Saturday, 8:00 am - 6:00 pm

We are looking for someone who:

*Has at least 1 year of full-time experience as a veterinary assistant and has the ability to demonstrate proper restraining techniques, in-house laboratory skills, catheter placement, blood draws, ability to accurately fill prescriptions *Has a solid understanding of preventative medications, medical terminology and calculations, and a passion for client education *Is familiar and comfortable with assisting during surgeries *Takes initiative by preparing for each day’s appointments, taking phone calls, setting appointments, taking medical history of patients, assisting veterinarians in surgery, physical exams, and diagnostic workups *Can demonstrate efficient organization and has the ability to pay attention to multiple details by taking initiative and staying motivated to provide excellent service to our clients * Wants to learn new skills and is focused on using them to advance their careers for the betterment of themselves, their team, and the clients and patients we serve *Has a positive attitude and is an effective and respectful team player *Is available for rotating Saturday shifts
