`Job Description: Total Wrecking is looking to hire a junior estimator with room to grow within the company over time. In this role you will be working directly under and with the senior estimator and project management department.
Job Duties:
- Working with business development, estimating, and project management on projects to bid.
- Assist in the prequalification and procurement process.
- Perform all aspects of estimating and project management, including selection of proper equipment, staffing/resource need, establishing production rates, and obtaining vendor and subcontractor quotations.
- Attend pre-bid meetings to familiarize yourself with the job site conditions as necessary.
- Review and evaluate project specifications to determine proper materials, applications and scope of work.
- Complete quantity takeoffs and summations of materials.
- Initiate appropriate correspondence with the customers, clarify vague or unclear statements or specifications, prior to finalizing takeoff.
- Prepare and submit proposals for assigned projects.
- Review all bids with upper management prior to submission.
- Working knowledge of commercial and industrial construction
- Read plans, specs, contracts, etc.
- Quantify takeoffs and unit price labor and materials according to plans/specs
- Generate quotes from subcontractors / suppliers
- Willingness and adaptability to work on a vast variety of projects in both industry and size
- Ability to write a workplan with our project management, business development, and estimating department.
- Ability to work on multiple projects at a time
- Ability to generate a technical presentation for clients while working hand in hand with the business development director
- Ability to travel when and where necessary for project site visits
Qualifications:
- Basic computer skills required – Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Projects, Adobe
- Familiar with BlueBeam or the ability to learn new software quickly
- Able to respond quickly and calmly under pressure
- Deadline and detail oriented
- Strong leadership skills
- Self-motivated and organized
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent written, oral, verbal, public speaking and presentation skills
