Wave Planner

Position Responsibilities:

• Determine daily, the priority of orders and time the release of work to the production floor by reviewing the entirety of the facility workload. Maintain dynamic priority based on customer importance, ship date limitations, carrier requirements, dollar sales value and operational efficiencies. Control the balance of outbound lanes and maintain a flow that allows shipping to move the product efficiently.  Promote regular initiative-taking interaction with various functional areas daily to assure we have addressed all internal operational and customer issues and freshest informational input.
• Provide data-based information to DC management, as scheduled,                      to keep the fast paced operations up to date for maximum agility, including determining labor requirements, and adjusting production capacity.  Keep track of the timing of work beginning with each wave.  Monitor the status of each wave and assure they are closing properly, allowing new work to be dropped assigned to freshly available divert lanes.
• Assure that orders for shipping have been slotted in a pick face, if that is the preference, before executing the wave, generating reports to identify potential slotting errors.
• Validate that carriers have been properly assigned to orders based on the timing of the allocation. Determine what routing maintenance is required to assure shipping effectiveness.  Communicate with Logistics any scheduling conflicts that may arise from the timing of waving, picking and dock handling. 
• Prepare bulk waves as required, monitoring and assigning systematic stage locations to replenish product from reserve areas when the management team elects to pick order via this method. Coordinate with productions to reconcile and refresh the Bulk waves and stage location.  
• Manage the flow of labels to each supervisory area, as dictated by the processing pick type and printer setups.
• Develop / modify system queries for special information critical to review the flow of orders through the pick processes, allowing for informed wave planning decisions.
• Determine orders that qualify for hybrid or determination zones. Assure split case modules are appropriately adjusted in the slotting to force a wave to pick from a specific zone rather than a ‘round robin’.  These requirements must be coordinated with all floor personnel prior to creating waves.
• Systematically distribute reports for various departments. Daily information is to be furnished for all operational staff functions including replenishment, material control, slotting, logistics and customer service.  Analyze statistical data and recap weekly performance. Develop e charts and graphs which identify progress and other pertinent information as needed; present data in a variety of views as required by stakeholders to plan for efficient operations.
• Participate in various special projects such as quarterly geographic cycle counts and related operational requirements throughout the year.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent (some college experience, helpful).Understand basic inventory principles.
• Thorough understanding of the impact of freight modes, TL, LTL, and SPS on the flow of product through a distribution center.
• Experience slotting, waving, generating labels, replenishment, picking, logistics, and manifesting in a warehouse management system, in PkMS, a plus
• Above average ability in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Access and experience analyzing and presenting data.
• Understanding of networking and associated printers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be detail oriented.
• Possess effective organization and time management skills.
• Independent worker but with a team outlook.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot and solve problems.

Physical Requirements:

• May be required to sit at a workstation for up to 8 hours per day
• Low physical effort required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, lift, reach, and walk when working in an office environment.
• Fine manipulation when using the computer keyboard.
• Maximum unassisted lift = 35 lbs. Average lift less than 10 lbs.
• Near and far vision and color discrimination necessary
• Ability to communicate verbally both in person and on the telephone.
