Job Summary:

*Working as the Assistant Director of Environmental (Housekeeping) Services*, you are responsible for assisting in the overall management of the Department. You will therefore help to lead the department within the established objectives, standards, policies and procedures as well as within the federal, state and local regulations. You will assist the Director in being financially accountable for the department by operating within the approved budget, while also providing the Client with the maximum value spent. In addition, this role will foster interdepartmental relations and integrate the environmental services department with the hospital plan of operations. This position will lead a team of 6.45 hourly FTE (full-time equivalent) housekeeping Associates at a 50 bed hospital account in Fishers. Anticipated schedule will be variable, mostly days with some weekends/evenings/holidays.

*Key Responsibilities: *

Establishes and reviews standards and work procedures for all housekeeping staff in accordance with established policies and practices
*
- Plans work schedules, hours, areas of work, and job duties to ensure adequate housekeeping services are rendered to all areas
- Interviews, selects, hires, evaluates, and recommends termination of facility housekeeping personnel
- Orients, trains, and supervises team
- Completes regular inspections and evaluations of the facility; has the ability to recommend action items; assists with relocations within the facility
- Conducts regular staff meetings and communicates with members of other departments to coordinate housekeeping activities
- Schedules major project work, assuring that adequate staff and supplies are available
- Conducts regular inventory of housekeeping supplies
- Assists system director with budget
- Follows-up on all client requests

Preferred Qualifications: **
- *
Bachelor’s degree preferred; high school diploma/GED required
- Solid understanding of all housekeeping procedures preferred
- Prior housekeeping supervisory experience
- Good work ethic and drive and initiative for quality and customer service
- Excellent written and oral communication, listening and empathy, and problem solving (one-on-one and group) skills
- Ability to utilize a participative approach to managing staff, to function appropriately under stress, to organize and prioritize tasks, and to develop budgets with a complete understanding of facility needs and requirements
- Excellent stress management skills, administrative and organizational, and follow-through (with associates and clients) skills required
- Proficient in the use of Windows based office software including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
