Overview
Touro College of Pharmacy seeks a Research Scientist. This position is for an individual who has a background in pharmacy, chemistry, biology or pharmaceutical sciences and is interested in providing comprehensive support for pharmacy laboratory courses and faculty-sponsored research projects.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assist in the TCOP’s pharmaceutics teaching laboratories with a focus on non-sterile and sterile compounding.
Provide assistance to members of the faculty with regards to the projects, technologies and protocols performed in the research laboratory.
Should be able to work independently and proficient in maintaining and procuring inventories of chemicals, reagents and consumables for research and teaching purposes; routine maintenance of all laboratory instruments; and ensuring appropriate disposal of materials to be discarded.
Keep an inventory of chemicals, reagents and consumables; maintain all laboratory instruments, and MSDS sheets.
Prepare the lab materials used by the students in the compounding lab; keep an inventory; A thorough knowledge of appropriate disposal methods is a must.
Prepare the compounding lab for each session; ensure that the laboratory is organized and clean, and that each student has all the materials and glassware required for each laboratory session.
Assist instructors during laboratory sessions.
Ensure that laboratories are neat at the end of the laboratory session; glassware and instruments are clean and ready for the next session.
Make copies of manuals and distribute them to the students.
Organize and maintain the research lab; assist professors and students engaged in research projects.
Proactively reach out to faculty to review project plans, equipment, requirements and material requirements.
Ensure that equipment is properly cleaned and maintained, and that chemicals, drugs and other materials are appropriately stored.
Ensure that all health, safety and regulatory procedures and policies are understood and followed correctly.
Perform other activities as requested by the Chair or the Dean.
Qualifications
Education/ Experience
Bachelor of Pharmacy required.
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities
Demonstrated ability to develop positive and cooperative relationships with students, faculty and colleagues required
Familiarity with molecular biological techniques familiarity with cell culture is helpful.
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoints etc. are expected.
Familiarity in running day-to-day activities in a chemistry lab is highly desirable.
Experience as a pharmacy technician and/or preparing sterile/intravenous products is a plus.

USD $52,006.00/Yr.
Minimum Salary
USD $41,604.00/Yr.
