Note: All full-time positions include the option of $0 out-of-pocket premium cost for Employee Only PPO AND exceptionally low premiums for all other PPO coverage levels.

Tower is offering a $1000 Signing/Retaining bonus as of 1/20/2023.

HOURS FOR POSITION: Monday - Friday 40 hour work week. 8:00am-4:30pm

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

With guidance and oversight, this position is responsiblefor researching, analyzing, writing, editing and proofing marketing communications for Tower Federal Credit Union’s Communications and Brand Marketing department in the Marketing Division. The position requires skill sets to creatively, effectively and accurately produce written communications to explain the value and benefits of the credit union and its products and services. With direction from the senior writer and Vice President, the position interacts closely with other staff writers and designers in developing and producing creative communications, balancing text and design, prioritizing message points, and executing communications to ensure project goals are achieved. The level I writer, in conjunction with the level II writer, will be called upon to disseminate often detailed financial information and present it in a clear, concise form, and to contact various internal and external sources to research material and information for assigned work.


PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES AND FUNCTIONS:

  • Contributes to Tower’s growth by collaborating in the development of original and creative messages for marketing communications initiatives, as assigned, to meet goals and objectives of the credit union’s marketing plan.

  • In conjunction with the level II writer, researches and writes inventive, effective and accurate advertising and marketing communications, as well as informational and educational materials within prescribed time frames, to communicate and promote the Tower brand, the value of Tower membership and the features and benefits of Tower’s products and services.

  • Develops and proposes creative and strategic solutions for communicating with Credit Union members and prospects by researching and producing communications as part of integrated marketing approaches. This includes writing and planning the communications strategy for both digital and traditional marketing channels. Types of communications include but are not limited to: e-mail, e-newsletters, social media posts/campaigns, website text, video content, member facing collateral, news releases/PR articles, and business development sales support materials such as presentations and webinar content.

  • Works with in-house graphic designers to assist with implementation of the visual elements of the communications strategies.

  • Responsible for drafting and finalizing, following internal review, written communications of assigned projects, which accurately reflect the credit union image and communicate the key features and benefits of products and services to increase member awareness and product penetration.

  • Lead coordinator and writer responsible for developing and creating copy for signage and promotion materials for events, trade shows and seminars.

  • Strong ability to consistently respond to questions and to present features and benefits about Tower’s products and services and membership eligibility when called upon both externally and internally after initial training period.

  • Performs related duties as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • BA degree in Communications, Journalism or English, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two to three years experience as a proven writer in a business, ad agency or publishing environment.
  • Required to submit minimum selection of published written samples.
  • Advancement from one level to another requires demonstration by the incumbent and certification by the manager of each of the relevant competencies/skills.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Ability to operate PC in a Microsoft Windows environment.
  • Ability to operate Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Demonstrated strong proficiency in rules of grammar, punctuation, and spelling; possesses high level of proofreading and copyediting skills.
  • Ability to integrate words with graphics, infographics and video and to know the right mix of words and visuals to effectively communicate with the target audience, depending on the communications channel(s) used.
  • Ability to read and interpret procedures, instructions, correspondence and business periodicals.
  • Ability to write and edit short reports, business correspondence and procedures for a diverse audience.
  • Ability to research and present short reports, correspondence and articles.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of employees or members.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and communicate effectively without repeated close supervision.
  • Ability to think creatively and present general communications concepts.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to focus on detail and verify accuracy of numbers and text.

  • Has knowledge of and adheres to credit union policies and procedures and all regulations related to the Bank Secrecy Act, the USA PATRIOT Act and OFAC.

WORKING CONDITIONS:


  • Must consistently be ready for work as scheduled and effectively manage time at work with frequent interruptions.
  • Must be able and willing to maintain sensitive and confidential information.

  • Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods and demonstrate sufficient dexterity and vision to operate a variety of office equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 lbs with or without assistance.
  • Ability to work the hours needed which may extend beyond the defined work schedule when operating conditions dictate.
