- The Social Worker helps Oncology patients and their families adjust to the cancer diagnosis and to assist in managing psychosocial, emotional, financial or other barriers to care.
- They are experts in linking patients and families to community resources and providing advocacy to those with cancer as well as their loved ones.
- Social Workers also offer multiple support groups for patients and families as well as crisis interventions and supportive counseling and referrals.

Education Requirements
- Master's Degree in Social Work
- Oncology certification can be obtained by being employed in position for two years
Experience
- Minimum of 1-2 years healthcare experience in field instruction and/or employment in a healthcare setting
