The Recreation and Parks department is a part of the town of Black Mountain, NC. Our goal is to share our love of recreation and the outdoors while building relationships and experiences. Summer Camp dates are June 17 - July 26, Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5pm. (off 7/4/24)

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
This is a seasonal position for a summer camp counselor. The main responsibility of this position is to lead a group of campers, who are rising first graders to rising sixth graders, in a fun, safe, and enriching camp experience.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Protects the health, safety and welfare of all campers
· Accompanies campers to all activities
· Plans and leads all camp activities with the assistance of other team members and the Camp Director
· Supervises campers’ participation in structured and unstructured activities
· Facilitates group unity by promoting camper friendships and resolving conflicts fairly
· Maintains positive relationships with campers by showing sensitivity to campers’ emotional needs
· Implement positive behavior-management techniques with campers
· Be a role-model for campers by following all policies and demonstrating enthusiasm, a sense of humor, and self-control
· Transports/Drives the campers via the Recreation and Parks 15 passenger van
· Helps maintain the organizational structure of the workspace
Job Type: Temporary
Pay: $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
