We are seeking 8 energetic and creative individuals at least 18 years of age who are enthusiastic about giving back to the community by serving as a Center Aide IV.
As a Center Aide, you are a citizen advocate of all things Cary. You are part of our citizen support team and your passion for providing exceptional customer service contributes to our high level of customer satisfaction. Acting as the first line of response to our citizens, you will communicate in an open, helpful, and engaging tone and focus on finding the right solution with each citizen.
You will connect with our citizens to address questions and resolve issues, then work with various teams to resolve customer support concerns, escalate issues, and serve as an ambassador for our community centers. You will serve as a host/hostess of public reservations held in the facilities welcoming their guests to our center.
This is a part-time, non-benefited, year-round position, up to 20 hours a week, with a maximum of 999 hours per year. Weekend and evening work are required. Ideal candidates will be available to work a flexible work week which includes some weekend coverage.
The Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources community centers are located at:
- Bond Park Community Center, 801 High House Road, Cary
- Herbert C. Young Community Center, 101 Wilkinson Avenue, Cary
- Middle Creek Community Center, 125 Middle Creek Park Avenue, Apex
- The Hive, 712 Slash Pine Drive, Cary
Typical Tasks
- Receives and processes room reservation inquiries for private reservations, programs, and events.
- Proactively identifies facility needs and suggests solutions.
- Communicates with patrons to address concerns.
- Manages reservations in the facility.
- Provides Town information and materials to citizens or redirects the citizen to the appropriate staff.
- Notifies patrons of cancelations, changes or updates.
- Follows up with supervisor and/or program assistant as needed.
- Enforces Cary policies and procedures.
- Opens and/or closes and secures the facility when assigned.
- Registers citizens for Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources programs.
- Maintains citizen account records, and sells items through a Point of Service system.
- Performs basic accounting for money received through the cash register.
- Assists patrons with myCary registration, citizen portal and educates citizens on the program offerings.
- Sets up/take down rooms and gyms and equipment.
- Assists with special events during set up and take down
- Performs other job-related tasks as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of computers and using related software; skilled in time-management; skilled in customer service; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions specific to Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources policies and procedures; ability to acquire knowledge of Cary's policies, procedures, and the services of the department; ability to work interact with the public tactfully and constructively.
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Requires a combination of education or experience equivalent to a high school diploma.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Physical requirements will vary upon assignment. Some assignments may require the ability to lift or move heavy objects, such as supplies or equipment. Assignments are primarily clerical, indoors, and may require sitting and the use of a computer for extended time periods.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Requires possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Requires drug testing and background check (which may include criminal check, education verification, and credit history review) prior to employment.
