What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teen Programmer position at Town of East Hartford?
The East Hartford Public Library seeks a teen programmer to join our summer enrichment team. Primary job responsibilities are planning and leading enrichment activities for participants in East Hartford Parks & Recreation teen camp, both at the library and on location at the camp. This 8-week position begins the week of June 17. Hours are Monday – Thursday mornings. The ideal candidate has experience working with children and teens, an enthusiastic attitude, and a sense of humor.
Work with the summer enrichment team at the library to plan and lead summer enrichment activities for the participants in East Hartford Parks & Recreation Teen Camp.The position pays $21/hour.

- Plans developmentally appropriate enrichment programs for teens (12 – 15)
- Executes programs both on site at the library and at the outdoor camp location.
- Collects and reports data for grant requirements.
- Ability to interact with employees and the public in a courteous and professional manner
- Ability to pay close attention to detail
- Knowledge of age group
- Ability to deploy imagination, creativity, and a sense of humor in program planning and execution
- Ability to act as a role model for campers and staff
- Ability to meet deadlines and problem-solve
- Skill in resolving confidential/sensitive situations
- High school degree required; 4-year college degree preferred (education students encouraged to apply)
- Experience working with children and/or teens.
- Valid CT driver’s license
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
Salary : $36,400 - $38,220
