Salary: $22.00 per hour
General Description:
Under the direction of the Recreation Director and Deputy Recreation Director, the Camp Director will be responsible for safe camp programming, budgeting for camp related needs, strategic planning and facility management.
Primary Essential Functions:
- Recruits, trains, evaluates, disciplines and advises counselors and camp staff.
- Manages the training and professional development of personnel.
- Plans, schedules, supervises and evaluates the recreational and instructional camp programming for youth.
- Ensure that staff and participants follow all camp policies, rules, and procedures of The Commonwealth of Massachusetts 105 CMR 430.000 Standards for Recreational Camps for Children.
- Address scheduling, maintenance, and repair of Pine Knoll facilities/equipment in partnership with the Camp Caretaker and Department of Public Works.
- Creates, demonstrates and maintains a culture of courtesy, respect, and professionalism.
- Collects and organizes immunization records as required by 105 DMR Department of Public Health 430.152. Using EPact software.
- Actively participate in training sessions, designated meetings and special events with the East Longmeadow Recreation Department.
- Monitor campers’ well-being.
- Responsible for opening, closing and securing facilities, answering phones and communication with the public.
- Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures as related to the operation of summer camp.
- Oversee the use of all program equipment and ensure the safe and correct use of the property.
- Immediately report any incidents to the Recreation Director or Deputy Recreation Director verbally, and follow-up with a written report within 24 hours.
- Provides safety assistance, emergency actions and first aid when necessary.
- Develops budgetary needs of the aquatic equipment and training expenses.

- Produce a full camp manager end-of-season report.
Education and Experience:
- BA/BS in a related field preferred. Minimum of three years commensurate experience in a supervisory/management position, or a combination of the two.
- CPR/First Aid Certified.
- Proficient in MS Word; MyRec, Epact or other Registration systems.
- Must be over the age of 21.
