Town Maintenance Worker

The Town of Farmington, La Crosse County Wisconsin is hiring a full time, semi-skilled maintenance worker to perform a wide range of duties for both the Town of Farmington and the Town of Farmington Sanitary District. The Town Maintenance Worker shares responsibility with other town employees to patrol, maintain and repair town roads, properties and equipment. This town employee assists the Water / Waste Water Operator with routine sample collections, chemical analysis, maintenance and repairs of the water / sewer treatment facilities.

The wage for this position will be based on experience and offers a robust benefit package including Wisconsin State Retirement, competitive health insurance with low premiums, paid vacation and holidays. Strong preference will be given to individuals with working experience with a township or other municipality.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

· Plowing snow

· Operating heavy equipment, including a dump truck with plow, wing and sander, loader, road grader, wheel tractor with boom mower, lawn mower etc.

· Mowing and manually trimming weeds and tall grasses at various locations including cemeteries, parks, road rights-of-way and other public lands

· Removing trash and debris from roadways, including rock, mud, and trees

· Removing debris from culverts, tunnels, etc.

· Digging ditches and shoveling gravel, sand, concrete, and asphalt

· Installing and repairing culverts, guardrails, highway markers, signs, and lighting

· Filling potholes and roadway cracks

· Maintaining equipment and performing minor equipment repair

· Scheduling and maintaining records of equipment repair and maintenance

· Cleaning and organizing town shops and other work areas

· Collecting water and sewer samples

· Operating sanitary district pumps, blowers, chemical feed systems

· Create and maintain records of road signs

· Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

· High school diploma or equivalency.

· Experience operating dump truck with plow, wing and sander or similar commercial vehicle

· Experience operating a loader, wheel tractor for mowing and other light / heavy equipment

· At the time of hire, must have valid Wisconsin Driver’s License.

· Must obtain Commercial Driver’s License with air brake / combination vehicle endorsements within 30 days of hire.

· Required to live within thirty (30) minutes' driving time in normal weather conditions

Adhere to a rotating on-call sanitary district weekend schedule
