POSITION: INSPECTOR II - Building Inspector                                                                                                                     Office of Planning & Development Services (OPDS)                                                                                               Full-time position, 40 hours per week   STARTING RATE: $34.96 POSITION RANGE: $34.96 - $40.15                                                                                               POSITION OVERVIEW AND REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:                            Performs inspection, review, and enforcement duties related to the administration and enforcement of the State Building Code and related regulations. The successful candidate will have thorough knowledge of Connecticut Basic Building Code and its related references, the materials, methods and techniques used in building construction, ability to recognize faulty construction or hazardous conditions, ability to express oneself clearly and concisely both orally and in writing, and the ability to enforce regulations firmly, tactfully and impartially. Must establish and maintain effective working relationships with contractors, property owners and the general public. Provides technical consultation to Town departments and commissions as needed. The skills and knowledge required would generally be acquired with an Associate’s Degree and six (6) years experience in building construction or an equivalent combination of education and experience.   REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:         Licensed as an Assistant Building Official per Section 29-262 of the Connecticut General Statutes.
