POSITION SUMMARY: The Library Page shelves books and other materials; completes related work as assigned.
Hours: currently for the children’s department, 10 hours per week
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. 1. Re-shelves books and other library materials in stack shelving
2. Neatens and shelf-reads materials to ensure they are in alphabetical or numerical order.
3. Maintains the organization of special collections, such as newspapers and magazines, to ensure they are in chronological order by collection. Rotates back issues according to established procedures.
4. Assist with updating the bulletin board, library displays and assist with the preparation of programming materials.
5. Assist with daily library deliveries.
6. Other related duties as assigned.

1. Knowledge of basic cataloging
2. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
3. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, Town officials, and the general public
4. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
5. Enjoys working with people of all ages, abilities, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and gender identity with an aptness to relate successfully with youth, families, and co-workers
6. Must possess/project a welcoming demeanor, positive attitude, patience, and a professional appearance
7. Demonstrates exemplary customer service skills
8. Demonstrates good organizational skills with an attention to detail
9. Self-directed, flexible, motivated and able to prioritize tasks
10. Must possess strong technology skills as applicable in the library environment
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
1. High School Diploma or GED certificate preferred
2. Library experience preferred
3. Must successfully pass a background check
