DEPUTY TOWN CLERK/DEPUTY TAX COLLECTOR
JOB SUMMARY
Assists the Town Clerk/Tax Collector within the statutory authority allowed.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the direct supervision of the Town Clerk/Tax Collector.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES

1. Performs duties of Deputy Municipal Agent for motor vehicle, OHRV and boat registrations.2. Assists in the preparation of property tax bills, the tax lien and deeding process, accurately post tax payments, and respond to inquiries from banks and the public.
3. Assists in the accurate reporting of revenue collected and depositing of receipts for the Office of TownClerk/Tax Collector, including State monies for registrations and utilities for Highlands Village District.
4. Research and providing copies of Vital Records.5. Assists in the administration of elections including voter registration, processing of absentee ballots, ballot clerk duties, counting of ballots and preparation of official election results.
6. Registration and collection of dog license information and fees.7. Notarizes documents.8. Capable of assuming the duties of the Town Clerk/Tax Collector in her absence.
Performs other related duties as required and assigned by the Town Clerk/Tax Collector.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Good working knowledge of financial reporting and accounting practices. Knowledge of State Statutes pertaining to the Office of Town Clerk/Tax Collector. Working knowledge of computers, modern office equipment, practices and procedures. Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask. Ability to learn and become certified on the State of New Hampshire motor vehicle system, New Hampshire Vital Records system, New
Hampshire statewide voter registration system, Fish and Game OHRV registration system and tax collection system. Ability to establish positive working relationships with other employees and the public.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Deputy must be a resident of Northfield; high school diploma or equivalent, a basic understanding of accounting and general office work; working knowledge of computer software and office equipment, or any equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Pay: $17.00 - $23.00 per hour
