TITLE: Administrative Float position
Includes Assistant to Tax Collector and Assessor Offices, other Admin Offices coverage
Administrative Float position. Covers multiple Town Hall offices during peak times and as substitute for various offices or special projects. PT/FT. Must be flexible, dependable, detail oriented, possess computer skills and be adaptable.
General Description:
This position performs clerical and technical work, providing superior customer service to the public. Duties involve responsibility for the storage of documents, data entry, processing of payments, and professional communication as needed.
Supervision Received:
Reports to Tax Collector, Assessor, and the First Selectman.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in the execution of both the Tax Collector and Assessor functions in accordance with the General Statutes of the State of Connecticut and town ordinances.
Utilize proprietary computer software to accept tax payments, communicate with the
Department of Motor Vehicles, and assist in the assessment of property.
Work independently in the absence of the Collector or Assessor.
Work in various offices needing assistance in absence of other assigned staff or for special
projects.
Knowledge, skills and Abilities:
Work independently.
Work efficiently and effectively during high volume times with multiple interruptions.
Strong interpersonal skills with public and staff. Be an enthusiastic, motivated team member with a goal of high-quality customer service
Both oral and written communications
Skilled in de-escalation
Organized
Basic math skills and cash handling experience
Computer literate with extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
Highly detail oriented
Qualifications:
High school diploma and a minimum of 3 years customer contact office experience. Municipal experience and banking background desirable.

Hours of availability requirements:
Hours of operation for the offices: 8AM – 5PM Monday - Wednesday; Thursday 8AM – 6PM
January & July - Full Time, approximately 30 hours weekly
All other months approximately 30 hrs weekly also, but flexible and will vary with office assignments.
