The employee performs management and administrative tasks including the fiscal oversight of the golf course. Work includes supervisory responsibilities of the department and services. Golf Course Management Duties Responsible for directing the overall activities for various departmental areas of responsibility including golf shop operations, golf course food and beverage operations, and golf course maintenance operations.Monitors and ensures guest service and satisfaction, and maintains good public relations by ensuring communication with guests and informing them of golf course conditions, wait times, pace of play, and other necessary information.Serves as facilities golf expert by giving direction and recommendations pertaining to golf techniques as requested, as well as general advising in regards to rules, outings, league play, and other matters.Controls play on courses. Determines optimal starting times, pairs golfers, monitors pace of play and performs other duties to promote guest satisfaction and enjoyment.Schedules, promotes, and conducts golf outings and tournaments. Determines event date and format, organizes materials including rules sheet, scorecards and scoreboards, and establishes rules and prizes for various golf leagues and associations.Maintains facilities and equipment. Ensures that golf facilities, riding cars and equipment are maintained in proper condition, and manages golf car fleet operations. Ensures cleanliness of clubhouse and golf facilities, and prepares golf course to create pleasant and enjoyable atmosphere for golfers.Directs and supervises Golf Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Assistant Golf Pro, and non-exempt employees in the Golf Dept. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training employees, planning, assigning and directing work, performance appraisals, corrective action, performance counseling and problem resolution. Complete employee evaluations and increases in a timely manner.Work with the Human Resources Department in development of direct reports, staffing needs and company compliance to company policies, and Federal/State laws. Performs accounting and fiscal management responsibilities. Ensure proper cash-handling procedures for merchandise sales and golf fees. Maintains adequate change funds, prepares bank deposits and daily activity reports. Assumes accountability for motor vehicle permits, gift certificates, golf merchandise, and rain checks. Follows standard accounting practices for cash control procedures.Assumes merchandising responsibilities. Checks in new inventory and monitors stock levels. Maintains current working knowledge of products and trends. Displays merchandise, and advises guests about golf equipment, gloves, shoes, balls, and other items to promote sales. Provides expert club-fitting services.Promotes the game of golf and the Town of Smyrna. Creates, promotes and implements beginner and junior golf programs, including clinics for adults and juniors.Participates in special functions involving the Town of Smyrna. Attends outside events including PGA meetings, Tennessee Golf Association, meetings, etc. to effectively promote the facility.Coordinates with superintendent to ensure acceptable golf course maintenance practices to include: chemical application, mowing heights, equipment maintenance and OSHA standards.Deals effectively/tactfully with citizen complaints regarding departmental and Town procedures.
