The Town of South Kingstown is seeking applicants interested in pursuing a career in Law Enforcement for a paid internship as a Seasonal Community Service Officer for the 2024 Season. The Seasonal Community Service Officer performs duties that include parking enforcement, traffic direction, assistance at special events as well as other directed patrols, in addition to serving as an informational conduit between the police department and the public.
The position works under the guidance of the Police Department and requires the ability to perform tasks requiring standing and walking for extended periods of time and riding an electric bike, sometimes under unfavorable weather conditions. Applicants must have a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain successful working relationships with fellow employees and the public, and to effectively deal with others in a helpful, respectful, and courteous manner. Applicants must also be able to communicate via two-way radio effectively and professionally.
This job will take place from May to September and is seeking four full-time employees at 35 hours a week on a rotating schedule. The position will be compensated at $17.00 per hour.
To be considered, candidates must be at least 18 years old, have a valid driver’s license, and preferably have an interest in pursuing a career in law enforcement. This position requires successful completion of a thorough background investigation and a pre-employment physical.
