Aquatics Director
Job Summary:
The Town of Union Vale’s Parks & Recreation is seeking an Aquatics Director for Summer 2022. The Aquatics Director will work directly with the Parks Manager, Camp Director and Assistant Camp Director to oversee all activities at the Tymor Park pool. The position is responsible for supervising lifeguards, camp staff, campers, and the general public during all pool-related activities. The position is seasonal and requires a commitment to work from June 1st – Labor Day, in addition to mandatory staff trainings.
Essential Job Functions:
· Monitor pool area during operating hours, ensuring safety and rule enforcement.
· Supervise Lifeguards and Swim Lesson Instructors, ensuring all staff is performing to standards set by the Health Department, American Red Cross, Ellis and Associates, and
Tymor Park.
· Provide training in proper lifesaving, first aid, and CPR techniques.
· Works directly with the Camp Director to build staff schedules to ensure proper lifeguard and swim instructor coverage.
· Oversees and organizes swim lessons, evaluating swimmers, and placing them in groups appropriate to their age and swim level.
· Perform First Aid, as well as lifesaving and CPR techniques as needed.
· Oversees daily housekeeping/cleaning of pool and pool area, including water chemistry testing and logs.
· May act in the capacity of a Lifeguard and/or Swim Instructor as needed.
Qualifications
· Must be at least 21 years old and have at least two seasons of experience as a Lifeguard or Aquatics Director
· Must have a current CPR certification not exceeding one year in duration
· Must be a certified Lifeguard through the American Red Cross or Ellis and Associates.
· Must have, or be able to obtain, American Red Cross Lifeguard Management Certification.
· Ability to plan and supervise the work of others
· Ability to maintain simple records and accounts
· Ability to rescue swimmers in trouble and to administer proper lifesaving and first aid techniques
· Ability to operate water safety equipment
· Ability to function well under stress
· Physical condition to commensurate with the demands of the position
Compensation
$15 - $17 hourly wage, commensurate with experience
Job Types: Full-time, Temporary
Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
