Police Administrative Services Technician

4 days a week 10-hours per day!

 

 

The Town of Vail is currently accepting applications for a full-time Police Administrative Technician.  We're looking for an energetic, detail-oriented and organized individual who can multi-task and who excels in customer service, problem-solving and creative thinking. 

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining criminal justice record keeping and reporting systems.
  • Updating multiple databases in criminal justice computer systems.
  • Tracking, scanning, and distributing e/documents.
  • Advising citizens of procedures and laws.
  • Working extensively with Law Enforcement personnel both internally and from other jurisdictions.
  • Routing information internally for follow up.
  • Routing calls for police service to appropriate personnel.
  • Compiling and preparing a variety of information for administrative and statistical reports.
  • Releasing criminal justice information according to law, policies, and procedures.
  • Intaking and processing court orders including orders to seal criminal justice records.
  • Submitting crime data to the State.
  • Responding to a variety of inquiries from Law Enforcement officers on crime data, department policy, and work processes.
  • Responding to complaints and inquiries by the public on the phone and at the front counter.
  • Processing town-related permit applications.
  • Managing the Town’s Lost and Found System.
  • Helping reunite found property with their owners.
  • Performing additional duties as required.

Qualified applicants must be a minimum of 18 years of age and have no felony offenses or crimes of moral turpitude and no convictions.  Applicants must have excellent oral and written communication skills, have no recent history of illegal drug use and excellent public relations skills. 

 

In addition they must meet the following requirements:

  • Two years heavy volume computer experience required, in particular with MS Office products. 
  • A high school diploma or GED required. 
  • Detail Oriented.
  • Capable of multi-tasking and problem solving.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent guest service skills.
  • Creative thinking skills.
  • Ability to work under adverse conditions and deescalate situations as needed.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills highly desired.  

 Work is conducted in a general office environment with extended periods of sitting at a computer terminal.   

 

Selection process will include, but is not limited to an application review, oral interview, drug screening, polygraph and background investigation. Must be able to work four 10-hour shifts per week (7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.).
