SUBJECT AREA LEADER – Physical Education05/06/2024
QUALIFICATIONS: Certified teacher, experience and interest in assigned curriculum area
JOB GOAL: The goal of the Subject Area Leader is to provide coordination and integration of the assigned curriculum area across teams, grades and schools, so each student will derive the maximum benefit from the subject involved. Subject Leaders support administration to increase student achievement as aligned to the School Improvement Plan and Vernon’s Strategy for Improvement.
REPORTS TO: Coordinator and Assistant Superintendent of Schools
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instructional Leadership
1. Plan and facilitate professional learning sessions.
2. Serve as a curriculum resource to staff in all PK-5 buildings.
3. Coordinate the monitoring of student achievement data.
Curriculum
1. Assist in curriculum development implementation and staff development.
2. Arrange for Summer School materials.
3. Coordinate efforts to find and distribute appropriate resources through the VPS website.
Communications
1. Effectively communicates curriculum expectations and goals to staff and administration.
2. Serve as a liaison between central office administration, building administration, and teachers.
?3. Assist with the analysis of data and recommend action steps.
Budget
1. Provide input to the Coordinator in preparation of the curriculum budget.
Professional Responsibilities
1. Regularly meets with Coordinator and Instructional Coaches
2. Keeps abreast of model programs, educational trends and research developments.
3. Seeks learning opportunities in addition to regularly scheduled meetings.
Performs such other duties and assumes such other responsibilities as the superintendent or designee may assign.
