Summer Camp Nurse/Recreation Program Health Specialist
- Supervises health and sanitation at summer camp
- Maintains camper's confidential medical history
- Oversees initial health screening of campers and daily health surveillance of camp occupants
- Assess campers and staff who are ill or injured and determine if further medical attention is needed.
- Handles health emergencies and injuries, including emergency preparedness and provisions for professional health care
- Maintain and administer camper (and staff) prescription medications as directed. Return them to parents at check-out.
- Maintains camp's daily medical log, including medications given to campers and first aid care
- Assist in stabilizing campers and staff requiring transportation to medical facilities
- Contact parents of ill or injured campers and staff (if appropriate) and update them as necessary
- Communicate with parents/guardians regarding camper health issues
- Document all injuries and care rendered. This involves documentation of all over-the-counter medicines, first aid treatment, communication with parents, doctors or any other off-camp facilities. Reports required incidents to local health department (if needed) within 24 hours
- Completes appropriate incident reports
Must possess a NYS license/certification for physician, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, registered nurse, licensed practical nurse or emergency medical technician from a certifying agency acceptable to the NYS Department of Health.
Salary: $22.35/hour. Hours are 8:45 AM – 4:15 PM, from June 26, 2023 - August 30, 2023
