Hiring Range: The base/starting wage for this position is $16.92 per hour, which increases based on years of service/experience.Work Schedule: Varies (weekdays, weekends, mornings, evenings) May – July NATURE OF WORKAs a member of the Parks, Recreation, and Culture Division, this seasonal position is responsible for assisting with the overall supervision and planning of selected programs. Conducts team practice sessions and meets. Work is performed in accordance with standard practice and methods requiring initiative to complete recurring assignments independently and with sound judgment to determine which methods are applicable in any given situation. Finished work is reviewed for accuracy, quality, and completeness. Unfamiliar situations are referred to the supervisor. Teaches skills and techniques of recreational Aquatics to youth populations ages 8 to 18. Serves as a coach and mentor in support of goals and programs. May participate in special events and/or other activities as assigned. This temporary employment may be scheduled through the year on a full-time basis depending on the needs of the town, but will not exceed six months in length (or 1,040 hours, whichever comes first). Individuals in the position are required to perform work in a manner consistent with and exemplary of the town’s PRIDE philosophies and the town’s Equal Employment Opportunity policy.SUPERVISION RECEIVED The Coach works under the direct supervision of the Recreation Coordinator - Aquatics to carry out assigned duties, functions, roles, and projects in both routine and complex circumstances.LEADERSHIP EXERCISED The Coach exercises general leadership over participants and works in collaboration with other coaches as needed.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSThe Coach is assigned specific assignments, job duties, scope, authority, responsibility, roles and requirements as determined by the town, department, division, and pursuant to laws, regulation and practices. Individuals in this position must be able to successfully perform, be responsible for, and/or assist in the fulfillment of many job functions and duties, with or without reasonable accommodation.The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all inclusive: Instructs participants in skills, techniques, and code of conduct of utilizing a variety to teaching and instruction methods.Creates an enjoyable experience for participants of program while teaching fundamentals of sport or activity. Ensures that all participants have an opportunity to participate in program.Exercises and teaches safety awareness and practices for skills and program.Communicates with participants, parents, co-workers, and supervisor to improve success of program and address any concerns.Provides regular feedback and program evaluation to Aquatic Specialist or Recreation Coordinator. Discusses concerns and make recommendations for program improvements including content, marketing efforts, scheduling, etc.Cleans and maintains surrounding program area (to include trash pickup and set-up and take down of equipment) before and after each program.May be assigned lead role responsibilities as needed.Plans, directs, and supervises all practices and meets.Attends meetings; acts as liaison between league and parents.Ensures all necessary equipment is available, is setup and property functioning.Provides constructive feedback to parents and program supervisor.Ensures safety regulations and procedures are adhered to.Performs related work as required and assigned.Utilize When2Work application for access to work schedule and requesting time off.May drive a town vehicle for a variety of tasks as needed.OTHER DUTIESDepending on organizational need, additional duties may include the following: The Seasonal Coach position participates in the Shared Fleet Vehicle Program.Performs related duties as established by law/ordinance or reasonably directed by the town.Assists other town departments, as necessary.
