The Town of Windsor, CT is seeking a Maintainer II to perform manual and semi-skilled construction, maintenance and repair work in the areas of streets and highways, and parks and grounds.

The salary for this position is $61,620 annually. This position is part of the Teamsters Local 671 Bargaining Unit.
The Position
- Performs street maintenance work. Repairs streets and sidewalks with asphalt, cold patching materials, and concrete. Operates roller to compact asphalt and smooth surfaces; repairs damaged sections of curbs; operates dump truck to haul materials and spread gravel and asphalt; shovels and rakes asphalt; fills and patches potholes.
- Performs grounds maintenance work. Cuts grass and trims weeds on town property, parks and rights-of-way using riding and walk-behind mowers and trimmers.
Our Ideal Candidate will have
- Knowledge of highway construction, repair and maintenance practices.
- Skill in operating dump trucks and a variety of highway maintenance vehicles and equipment.
- Knowledge of use and care of hand and power tools and equipment
- Knowledge of grounds maintenance
- Skill in operation of mowing, trimming and athletic field maintenance equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to listen, understand, retain, follow and apply verbal and written instructions or directions. Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Must be available for standby and emergency response coverage after regular working hours, weekends and holidays
Minimum Qualifications
- Completion of High School or equivalent, plus two years of related highway construction or grounds maintenance experience; OR any combination of training or experience which provides a demonstrated potential to perform the essential duties of the position
- Must have good driving record
- Must pass post-offer physical and drug screen
Special Requirements
Must have and maintain a valid CDL (B) with necessary endorsement(s) to operate public works vehicles and equipment and be able to obtain a valid CDL (A) license if required.
