Townsen Memorial Imaging is hiring for a PRN Mammography Technologist in Southwest, Houston. The Mammography Technologist is responsible for operating radiologic equipment to perform mammography procedures to assist physicians in the diagnostic of disease.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
• Assume responsibility for the preventive maintenance program for mammography equipment.
• Perform quality control procedures to ensure that the mammography equipment operates at optimal levels.
• Exercise responsibility to ensure that the mammography equipment is functioning accurately.
• Coordinates activities/tasks to maintain compliance and accreditation with the Mammography Quality Standards
Act (MQSA) and the American College of Radiology (ACR)
• Demonstrates high-level knowledge of established protocols and equipment operation when performing quality control testing
• Works closely with the Radiologists, Physicists and Bio Med to ensure the department operates within compliance of MQSA regulations
• Prepares and updates as needed all Quality control documentation forms and performs frequent review of all QC records to ensure compliance with MQSA
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of diagnostic radiographic procedures
• Knowledge of basic chemistry, film apparatus, and film processing techniques
• Knowledge of how disease and injuries are diagnosed and imaged radiographically
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to the work
• Knowledge of human anatomy
• Knowledge of computer and relevant software applications
• Strong attention to detail: being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks
• Ability to work independently by guiding oneself with little or no supervision, and depending one oneself to get
things done
• Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Graduate from an accredited Mammography Technology program
• Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT-R and M)
• Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist (CMRT)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
