VC Platform Intern

Founded in 2017, Toyota Ventures is a San Francisco Bay Area-based venture capital firm with $500M AUM that invests in early-stage startups around the world in frontier and climate technologies. We are on a mission to discover what’s next for Toyota by helping startups bring groundbreaking technologies and business models to market quickly. We’ve invested in over 75 companies to date, including AM Batteries, Bipi (acquired), Blackmore (acquired), e-Zinc, Intuition Robotics, Joby Aviation (NYSE: Joby), May Mobility, Revel, and Stoke Space.

Our portfolio companies are our customers. Their success is our success, and we have a dedicated platform team that helps support startups post-investment. The portfolio is growing, and we’re looking for a summer intern who is passionate about emerging technologies and entrepreneurship to work with our portfolio engagement team. This paid internship is based in the San Francisco Bay Area, and is open to current undergraduate and graduate students (flexible schedule, approximately 25-40 hours per week).

• Research and identify potential business/partnership opportunities
• Support the development of products and services to help portfolio companies
• Collect and analyze company KPIs to report on progress towards strategic goals
• Update presentations/materials to keep our internal team informed
• Assist with other platform team initiatives as needed

• Thrive in a fast-paced environments
• Self-motivated to get work done without a lot of oversight
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to produce research reports and presentations
• Analytical proficiency in Google Suite 
• Curious and enjoy learning new skills
• Strong interest in technology and working with entrepreneurs
• Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $35 and $45/hour for California-based roles; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
