Who we’re looking for
The Cloud Database Lead will help direct the Cloud team to ensure both short and long-term IDS goals are being met. This individual will work to maintain the highest level of design standards possible within the cloud platform based on industry best practices with a focus on the unique requirements of TFS.
The Cloud Database Lead will interface with members of various teams including Business teams, Enterprise Architecture, Server/virtualization, Security, Storage, Database, and Network as they collaborate to build best practices into their technical designs and migrations to Infrastructure as Code (IaC). This position will also interface with cross-affiliate counterparts to assist in One Toyota objectives, cost-saving measures, and technical collaboration ventures.
The position will be responsible for the architecture, design, and implementation of Database Platforms such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Aurora, DynamoDB, Redis, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL in public & private clouds.
The Cloud Database Lead will maintain an in-depth understanding of the future of the business needs and supports the alignment of IT projects and TFS Cloud architecture & strategies. The individual will use their technical knowledge to implement cost-effective designs in a consistent manner to support the TFS business.
What you’ll be doing
Core Practice:
• Lead and manage the cloud team to develop Infrastructure as Code and Cloud Infrastructure Automation capabilities.
• Combine conceptual understanding with deep and broad expertise over multiple subject areas and fill critical institutional knowledge gaps.
• Provide strategic analytics and counseling to management on important technology and business issues.
• Proactively identify new and improved technical solutions and evaluate and recommend options to management.
• Participate in multiple projects and play a key role as a subject matter expert for successful implementation. Act as a critical advisor to the team, providing deep functional expertise in the standards, processes, and procedures.
• Stay well informed of emerging technology and industry trends and integrate the knowledge into the improvement of current systems and business procedures.
• Advise management on new technology and industry trends and assist them in developing visions and strategies for the future.
• Work with limited supervision, having significant latitude for independent judgment.
• Actively seek internal and external information and insights to improve own work and department operations and services.
Organization and Vendor Management:
• Utilize institutional knowledge and industry awareness to assist department managers in developing annual and multi-year department objectives, roadmaps, and strategies.
• Manage and select consultants, integrators, and vendor relationships on small to large scale projects.
• Identify possible vendor solutions and opportunities to outsource.
• Review vendor software packages to assure that software conforms to TFS requirements.
• May direct work to vendors and consultants.

Provide leadership to the IDS Cloud team:
• Provide guidance and manage internal projects.
• Understand and support the relationships and dependencies with other IDS groups – including Data Center Operations, Technology Centers of Excellence, and Architecture Strategy.
• Champion own career through self-development plans; actively soliciting coaching and feedback, and participating in internal and external development opportunities such as classes, conferences, work assignments, and/or job rotations.
Qualifications
What you bring
• Four-Year College Degree (BA or BS).
• Exposure to database platform automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), JavaScript, PowerShell, Bash, Python.
• Experience in designing & implementing Microsoft SQL, Oracle Databases, MongoDB and Mongo Atlas, PostgreSQL, AWS Aurora, and AWS DynamoDB, Elastic Cache, Elastic Search.
• Experience in designing & implementing Azure Cloud Services.
• Experience in the development of proof-of-concept/prototypes cloud solutions.
• Experienced in working with Unix/Linux/Windows Platforms.
• Experienced in leading and managing Cloud and Database engineering and Infrastructure teams
• Experience in managing budgets, forecasts, and procurement.
• Exposure to DevOps, CI/CD toolchains, such as Jenkins, JFrog Artifactory and Git, Chef, Ansible, and HashiCorp Terraform.
• In-depth knowledge of HashiCorp Packer for the use of Windows and RHEL AMI creation.
• Comfortable with web technologies including HTTPS, SSL/TLS, and REST.
• Ability to have an open dialog with an application team, and learn their application’s function and API to build extensive integrations.

• Exposure with Cloud Management Platforms (CMPs) for Cloud Infrastructure Automation and Orchestration (VMWare/RedHat Cloudforms).
• Exposure to ServiceNow Scripting (Catalog, Workflow, and Orchestration Design).
• Experience working with IP Management Solutions (Infoblox IPAM).
• In-depth knowledge of AWS CloudFormation & Terraform, Terraform Enterprise.
• Certification in AWS architecture.
