Who we're looking for
Toyota'sStamping Laser EquipmentDepartment is looking for a passionate and highly motivatedEngineer.
The primary responsibility of this role is to seek out and implement new laser welding technologies and support project teams for laser welding equipment installations and refurbishments. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the person in this role will support the Stamping Laser Equipment department's objective to install, start-up, troubleshoot, modify, and assist the production plants with laser welding equipment upgrades and new equipment installations. This person would be required to work alongside Production and General Maintenance team members to address day-to-day issues related to quality and downtime.
What you'll be doing
- Support a project team consisting of engineers, seibi, and vendors from project inception through production handover. Work closely with the Production team to meet equipment and process KPIs required to meet yearly production volume targets
- Research, develop, and implement new laser welding technologies both to improve current processes and identify future equipment needs
- Through training and OJD become a technical expert in laser welding technology, equipment commissioning, and start-up
- Work closely with TMC to improve the current process by implementing best practices and information-sharing
- Support onsite activities, projects, and kaizens as needed on holidays, weekends, and shutdowns
- Travel to other Toyota facilities to support commissioning, start-up, and training activities
What you bring
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in an Engineering or Manufacturing discipline
- Experience in an Engineering or Manufacturing role, including project management for Toyota engineering projects, as a Team Member or Contractor
- Experience working with laser welding equipment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint
- Ability to work up to 25% overtime when required
- Ability to travel up to 25%
Added bonus if you have
- TBP completion through panel
- Experience in OSHA, ANSI, CSA, NFPA regulations and codes
- Experience in Toyota Bodyweld
- Hands-on welding experience such as MIG, TIG, or similar
- Robotics programming experience
- Experience with Vision Systems
