Who we're looking for
Toyota'sLegal Department is looking for a passionate and highly-motivatedComplex Litigation Paralegal.
The primary responsibility of this role is to support the business litigation team on complex litigation matters, including consumer fraud and other commercial class action, patent litigation and/or automotive dealer franchise matters.
Reporting to the Managing Counsel, Toyota Motor North America Business Litigation, the person in this role will support the Business Litigation department's paralegal needs.
What you'll be doing
Collect, organize, and maintain documents and information needed by in-house attorneys and outside counsel
Manage document collections and productions in collaboration with outside counsel and eDiscovery vendors
Monitor and respond to communications/correspondence from clients, outside counsel, vendors, and Toyota parent and affiliate companies
Prepare, revise, and finalize discovery responses
Issue and update litigation holds
Track and calendar important deadlines
Assist with finalizing client/witness declarations and verifications
Participate in client/witness interviews, meetings, and preparation sessions
Respond to deposition, document, and trial subpoenas
Manage case files and reports
Manage outside law firm and expert consultant resources
Function effectively as part of the business litigation team, including maintaining effective and efficient communication among team members
What you bring
Bachelor's degree
Paralegal Certificate (ABA-certified legal assistant program)
Extensive years of law firm or corporate law department experience as a paralegal in complex civil litigation (including class actions and government investigations)
Self-starter, problem-solver and detailed-oriented
Strong analytical, organizational, and case management skills
Experience handling technical documents
Excellent interpersonal and client relationship skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Takes ownership/personal responsibility for performing tasks and resolving issues
Proficiency in law department matter management systems such as Atlas and Team Connect
Proficiency in document management system such as NetDocuments or iManage
Proficiency in eDiscovery platforms such as Relativity
Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
Able to travel to Torrance, California for training and onboarding during first few months in the position
