What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Specialist position at TP Mechanical Contractors?
Position Summary: Assists in all Safety related functions identified by the Director. Develops relationships both inside and outside of the company that promote safety at TP Mechanical and represents the Safety Department in a professional manner.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Performs field safety audits and makes recommendations for corrective actions as needed.
- Performs safety orientations for new hires as needed.
- Performs and/or assists with safety incident investigations as well as OSHA investigations.
- Makes recommendations to management concerning disciplinary actions when safety violations occur.
- Assists or conducts all safety related training.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience/Qualifications Required:
- Minimum of 3 years experience in the construction industry or a Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health.
- OSHA 30 Certificate.
Job Skills:
- Knowledge of Windows based software (Excel, Word) and any e-mail system.
- Detail oriented.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Capable of handling confidential information.
- Able to perform climbing (extreme heights), crawling, heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds) and must not be claustrophobic.
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Special Requirements:
- Valid Driver License
