Trader Joe's is unlike any place you've ever worked. Trust us on that. The qualified Deli, Fresh or Pet/Shelf Stable Beverage Associate Category Manager has at least 2 years of Category Management/Buying experience and is a raving fan of the Trader Joe's concept. A Bachelor's Degree is strongly preferred. This role is based in our office in Boston, MA.
The Category Manager is responsible for:
- Delivering Value (Quality and Price) to stores and supports Buyers to achieve fulfillment goals such as fill-rate, TOS and inventory quality goals.
- Collaborating with Category Manager and Senior Category Manager to achieve sales, margin, SKU count and sales dollar/unit minimum targets as well as provide support in daily tasks and projects as needed.
- Maintaining strong vendor relationships and actively seeks out new partnerships to expand product offerings and partners with Product Developers to diversify their vendor base.
- Staying current on industry trends, competitions and innovations to bring new ideas and strategies to the team.
- Working collaboratively with other departments such as Marketing, Operations and Finance.
The Category Manager has:
- 1-3 years of category management, inventory management or buying experience preferably in the grocery and food space.
- Experience in buying and sourcing new food products.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Excellent communication skills and demonstrates excellent time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required as well as comfort with retail-based mathematics.
