Job Purpose: The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for the sound management of the financial operations of the Bank (staff, processes, procedures and systems) to ensure the safety and profitability of the Bank within the guidelines established by the senior management team and approved by the Board of Directors. The CFO directs and oversees the Bank’s financial controls, interest rate and liquidity risk profiles, investment portfolio and wholesale funding sources while ensuring the Bank’s efficiency.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Results: Ultimately responsible for the financial performance of the Bank’s investment portfolio and wholesale funding sources within the strategies set by the Asset-Liability Committee. Accountable to proactively position the bank for highest profitability. Responsible for the accuracy of budgeting relative to the bank-wide achievement of growth and profitability objectives and ultimately responsible for the achievement of efficiency objectives.  
  • Leadership, Management & Accountability (LMA): Leads, manages and holds finance staff accountable for achieving agreed-upon commitments and demonstrating a One Team mentality. Build and lead a high-performing finance team through mentorship, talent development and effective communication. Dependably demonstrates a relentless obsession with values alignment, customer service focus, simplicity and clarity. Maintains a strong leadership presence, motivating staff in a culture of accountability, integrity and building commitment to the Bank’s priorities and direction.
  • Capital Management: Responsible for maintaining adequate capital levels. Expert in forecasting future capital needs for the bank. Prepares capital analysis and develops plans, and along with the President & CEO, recommends strategies to the Board of Directors. Works with advisors to structure and issue offerings and ensures the timely funding and conversion of offerings. Oversees the administration of holding company operations and shareholder relations.
  • Interest Rate and Liquidity Risk: Oversees the measurement, analysis, monitoring and reporting of interest rate and liquidity risk. Makes recommendations for and implements strategies to mitigate interest rate and liquidity risk. 
  • Investment Portfolio and Funding: Manages the Bank’s investment portfolio and wholesale funding sources. As a member of the Asset-Liability Committee, assists in determining the Bank’s interest rate and liquidity risk profile and strategy and effectively executes on those strategies. Ensures adequate funding sources are in place and makes investment and funding decisions by balancing risk and return.
  • Accounting: Oversees the Bank’s accounting function, applying strong financial controls and ensuring adherence to accounting principles generally accepted in the United States (US GAAP). Directs the maintenance of the Bank’s general ledger system, accounts payable and receivable, budgeting and forecasting, and financial reporting. Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and compliance with banking laws to include but not limited to FDICIA and CECL. Accountable for management of all financial audits. Ensures the timely preparation of corporate tax returns and independent valuation of the company.
  • Product Pricing: Leads the Bank’s product pricing committee with an emphasis on net interest margin and profitability. Analyzes the profitability of existing products and business lines and evaluates the potential profitability of new products and business lines.

Education & Experience:

A bachelor’s degree from four-year College or University with emphasis on business or finance; 10-15 years’ experience in banking in finance or accounting and 5-7 years of experience in a leadership role; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to type, carry, handle and feel objects, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and more with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception in the window environment and the ability to adjust focus. 
  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
  • Local travel is required.
