Salary Range: $26.47/hr. - $35.40/hr.

Responsibilities

• Incumbent is responsible for serving as spokesperson for the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Office with the news media, disbursing various forms of information and assisting the Sheriff on special projects.
• Duties include: preparing press releases; marketing the Sheriff’s Office; creating social media content; attending meetings with elected officials and other stakeholders regarding issues and upcoming events; performing interviews; responding to or routing email sent to the Website; assisting in developing media strategy; responding to requests for information; assisting in the preparation of monthly newsletters; preparing information for the Website; creating internal and external event flyers; responding to requests for information; photographing various events for use in media; preparing written correspondence, remarks, testimony, speeches and articles for periodicals and newspapers; and, coordinating meetings.
• This position will require attendance to meetings and events prior to and after normal work hours and on some weekends.
  
  

Qualifications

• Two years of public relations or media related work experience; or, any equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
• Successful candidate will be required to submit to CVSA Truth Verification test.
• Clinical Assessment Interview and background check.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
  
  

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism or related field.
  
  

Travel Requirements

This position will involve no travel.
