What are the responsibilities and job description for the IVF Embryologist position at Trans Ova Genetics?
Starting hourly rate: 24.60
Key Responsibilities:
- Oocyte searching and grading for maturation.
- Fertilization and culture plate preparation.
- Semen handling and preparation for IVF.
- Fertilization of oocytes.
- Assist in maintaining semen and embryo inventory.
- Embryo stripping and culture.
- IVF embryo grading and loading for transfer or shipping.
- Embryo Freezing.
- Recordkeeping/Data Entry.
- Assist in Quality Control and lab cleanliness.
- Traveling on farm or to other centers to provide relief help
- Supply inventory management
- Maintain good laboratory technique and follow lab protocols.
- Follow Trans Ova’s policies and procedures.
- Maintain a professional image reflective of Trans Ova’s industry position.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education Requirements:
B.S. in Animal Science or a related field; or a Veterinary Technician degree.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
- Ability to sit for long periods of time behind a microscope, in a lab setting.
- Ability to work under a laminar flow hood.
- Some travel may be required.
- Flexible working hours, potential for long days (over 8 hours) and early morning start times.
- Rotational weekend and holiday work.
- Ability to perform tasks efficiently in outlined time frames
Other skills/experience:
- Prior hands on experience in bovine oocyte / embryo grading preferred.
- Knowledge of the cattle industry is preferred.
- Good hand to eye coordination.
- Strong attention to detail and organization.
- Works effectively in a team as well as alone (ability to work independently)
- Takes initiative and is a self-starter
- Ability to communicate with team members honestly, effectively and with empathy
- Ability to assist clients with pick ups and drop offs
