Job Description Summary The Financial Reporting team in Edinburgh consists of circa 12 FTE and has a number of key roles including being responsible for preparation and analysis of group reporting to AEGON N.V. on a monthly and quarterly basis; the preparation of statutory accounts and regulatory returns for a number of subsidiary companies; a focus on process improvement and changing processes as a result of the new accounting standard IFRS 17, and new systems. Job Description Please be aware that this role is a 12 Month FTC/Secondment AEGON have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Financial Reporting Accountant to join the business at a busy and exciting time. This is an ideal opportunity for you to broaden your existing experience by joining an ambitious team of accounting professionals and support with a mix of business-as-usual responsibilities as well as participating in impactful projects that are operating in the spirit of continuous improvement. Accountable for assisting in the preparation of IFRS reporting for group and statutory accounts, as well the preparation of the monthly financial and regulatory reporting, you will also support with the external statistical reporting, internal and external auditing and oversight (in particular SOx). You will also gain strong exposure to system testing, integration process improvements and analytical reviews. Key Tasks: Working with financial information providers, business units and third parties you will assist with monthly and quarterly preparation of consolidated IFRS reporting for submission to AEGON N.V. Assist with the preparation of annual statutory accounts and with the preparation of other group and external returns e.g. ONS and FCA etc. Using your experience, you will ensure that all preparation is completed in a timely and accurate manner. Review and analyse business unit results and third-party supplier’s information, understanding the data and where necessary challenging, to help mitigate financial risk. Complete workload to an auditable standard and follow Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) processes. Follow principals of continuous improvement and assist in ad hoc projects and reporting developments as necessary. Use your interpersonal skills to build relationships both internally and externally as well as supporting with the mentoring of the part qualified accountant within the team. Skills/Experience: Strong proven track record of working in a similar role within a financial services or professional firm environment. Strong expertise in IFRS reporting. Well organised you will be comfortable working in a fast changing environment. Comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels you should be able to build relationships quickly.
