What are the responsibilities and job description for the Toll Collector position at TransCore?

TransCore (TRN), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking two full time Toll Collectors to join our team in Gig Harbor, Washington.

 

This position is staffed 24 hours per day / 7 days per week and could be required to work any shift, including graveyard.

 

Job Summary:   Under the direction of the Toll Supervisor, the Toll Collector is responsible for collecting tolls and operating a manual lane per standard operating procedures with a customer focused approach.  Toll Collectors are accountable for the recording, reporting and depositing of toll revenue, the management of assigned change funds and security of all funds under his/her control.  The Toll Collector will be expected to meet or exceed performance goals.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Manages the traffic in lane by classifying each vehicle accurately and collecting the correct toll.
  • Provides correct change to cash customers.
  • Contacts the Toll Supervisor when customers won’t cooperate with payment policies.
  • Contacts the Toll Supervisor when customers or their passengers act suspiciously or their vehicles arouse suspicion.
  • Performs a deposit at the end of each shift and submits all required manual logs with the physical deposit.
  • Maintains his/her change fund per Toll Operations procedures.
  • Adheres to all policies and procedures and other documents or manuals that relate to Toll Collection Policies and Procedures.
  • Adheres to PCI-DSS position requirements as identified in the Tacoma Narrows Bridge Cardholder Data Network Policies and Procedures Manual.

 

Education:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required

 

Required Skills & Experience: 

  • Experience in cash handling and cash close out / reconciliation procedures
  • Customer service experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in traffic safety

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This position requires frequent use of hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Additionally, this position requires you be able to stand and/ or sit for up to 10 hours. Occasionally requires walking.  Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the person in this position is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles and moving traffic.  This position in also frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
