What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instrument Tech - Pecos, TX position at Transglobal Services LLC?
Assist the party chief with proper research prior to going to a job site and is in charge of operating applicable instrument data collectors. This person is expected to accurately collect field data using said equipment.
Essential Functions

- Set up a total station, a base set up and network rovers and accurately gather survey data.
- Must be able to load CSV, TXT files, shape files, stake out files into a TSC3/data collector for completion of survey work.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Excel. Must know how to set up files folders and load work files up to cloud servers.
- Know how to perform and set up field survey equipment for OPUS Control point and submit the correct files to complete and get OPUS control point to NOAA.
- Perform a closed loop traverse and reduce the data and run a trig level.
- Must be able to perform functions such as inverse, resection, stake a line, translate and rotate coordinates in the field.
- Prelim and As-Built Pipeline Experience
- Must be able to read a recorded subdivision plat or a metes and bounds legal description.
- Be able to run a map check and list the map error of closure using said equipment.
- Must be able to locate property corners using a pin finder, recorded deed or subdivision plat
- Must be able to run line work.
- Must learn field codes specific to TGS
- Responsible for cutting line
- Must be able to calibrate a prism rod
- Must make sure truck is fully equipped everyday
- All duties performed are to be carried out according to safety of all personnel at the worksite and to efficiently perform the task.

Requirements
- Must be able to perform job duties in various terrain and climates.
- Ability to read instructions, plans and specifications.
- Ability to engage in field work for extended periods and occasionally under adverse weather conditions as necessitated by work assignments.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and sketches.
- A High School Diploma or equivalent is required
- Land surveying a plus
- Must be able to travel 75%.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Work Environment
Work is performed both outdoors and in an office environment. Outdoor work may be conducted at landfills, construction sites, and in traffic.
Physical Demands
To perform the essential functions of the job, incumbents may be required to perform moderately strenuous tasks, such as including lifting and carrying instruments weighing up to 75 pounds over rough terrain. Incumbents may also be required to clear vegetation, dig holes, and pound stakes with hand tools.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Saturday and some Sundays, 7am to 7pm (time varies)
Travel
Overnight travel can be anticipated. Local day travel is required.
Required Education and Experience
Knowledge of: principles and practices of land surveying, including boundary determination, legal descriptions, construction, topographic surveying, is a plus
Ability to: communicate effectively orally and in writing; and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with party chief, other field personnel and TGS team members.
