The Pediatric NP/PA is a clinical role in the Primary Care department and reports to the Primary Care Director. This position is salaried, full-time, and on-site.
The Pediatric NP/PA is responsible for providing exceptional pediatric and adolescent care to gender diverse patients.

Objectives & Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties (80%):
- Provide ongoing primary care of patients
- Provision the full range of ambulatory services to both well and sick child and adolescent patients including routine health care maintenance as well as episodic care for illness/injury, etc.
- Utilize clinical practice knowledge to identify, prevent, or solve complex and/or recurring patient care problems
- Follow and manage patients to enhance continuity of care
- Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate a comprehensive plan of care and coordinate resources
- Monitor patient outcomes in accordance with defined standards of patient care
- Provide chronic disease management
- Participate in integrated behavioral health treatment interventions as needed
- Respond to all pediatric medical emergencies within Transhealth as appropriate
- Follow patients admitted to local hospitals as needed with care coordination after discharge planning
Administrative Duties (10%)
- Serve as a resource to staff in the area(s) of expertise
- Collaborate with managers, nurses, and other clinical staff to plan, implement, and evaluate the pertinent change in practice and health care delivery
- Identify system-wide factors contributing to undesirable outcomes, such as complications, morbidity, mortality, and overutilization of services
- Participate in ongoing quality assurance programs
- Attend staff meetings
- Participate in population management activities
- Evaluate own practice and program effectiveness
- Willingness to serve in a leadership capacity as this start-up clinic evolves
- Other duties as assigned
Educational Duties (10%)
- Participate in the development of formal and informal educational programs for the staff
- Conduct independent research with the assistance of the clinical research team
- Support research efforts to advance knowledge and to promote the research-based practice
- Evaluate current research findings for clinical specialty and determine applicability to unit practice
Qualifications & Experience:
- Current licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a registered NP or PA
- Master’s Degree in Nursing or completion of NCCPA program
- Current certification as a nurse practitioner or physician’s assistant in an appropriate specialty to care for pediatric patients
- 2 years of advanced practice experience or more preferred
- Abide by the by-laws, rules, regulations, and policies of the health center
- Accept consultations, committee and other assignments from the health center as requested
- Attend clinical staff meetings
- Be available for clinical coverage as needed, which may include occasional evenings, nights, and weekends
- Adhere to the profession’s clinical standards and code of ethics
- Promote patient satisfaction
- Adhere to the standards, policies, and procedures of Transhealth
- Maintain Massachusetts licensure at the highest level of eligibility
- Maintain the standards and educational requirements specific to the position, licensure, credentials, professional growth, and development
- Participate on internal committees as needed and appropriate
- Maintain and update clinical knowledge and skills based on current health care practice/research
- Experience working with the LGBTQ , and specifically, the transgender community is required
- Willingness to learn and use Slack, Trello, G Suite, and other programs
