Freelance Spanish Linguist - Spain

DataForce by TransPerfect is looking for a linguist to join us for a new innovative voice project for Spanish (Spain).

Role Summary

The Linguist will oversee the end to end process of voice talent recording sessions in Spanish (Spain) including introduction and scheduling of recording sessions with voice talent, approving recordings, and handling QA feedback.

Role Responsibilities

• Attend and schedule remote voice talent recording sessions and ensure that the voice talent:
  • Is consistent in following the client’s voice directions for tone, prosody, pace, enunciation, etc. across all recordings and all recording sessions
  • Records accurately according to the scripts
  • Records scripts authentically according to contemporary Spanish (Spain) pronunciations

• Ensure voice recording are without unwanted signals including:
  • Technical signal imperfections, such as clicks, dropouts, noise, hum or distortion
  • Background noises, such as mechanical noises (air conditioning, power supply, etc.), bio-acoustic noises (birds chirping, dogs barking, etc.) or environmental noises (traffic noise, people talking, clothes rustling/movement, mouse clicking, etc.)
  • Extraneous sounds, such as too loud plosives, mic pops, heavy mouth clicks and lip smacks or outtakes, which can distract listener from the presented content

Role Requirements

• Idiomatic fluency of Spanish as spoken in Spain
• Advanced fluency in English
• Professional or academic backgrounds can include:
  • Voice acting/voice direction
  • Linguistics with a focus on phonetics/phonology or sociolinguistics
  • Speech technology

Preferred Role Requirements

• Degree in linguistics with focus on phonology, phonetics, ideally with academic work on Spanish (Spain)
• Knowledge of phonetic transcription systems, and/or experience in phonetic transcription of Spanish (Spain) data
