Job Summary
The Vice President, Construction & Maintenance provides guidance and leadership for the management of capital resources and support of TA’s existing locations, growth strategy and headquarters located in Westlake, Ohio. The Vice President leads and directs teams in achieving strategic objections and initiatives relating to construction, construction operations, design, store, and campus facilities. They provide a strong focus on implementing and executing cross-functional initiatives, driving growth, and improving performance and profitability.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Executes annual and longer-term capital budget with fiscal responsibility to ongoing capital spend by oversight of construction team bidding process and contractor management
- Partners with financial leadership to develop and execute all capital initiatives related to construction and maintenance
- Oversees financial objectives, identify areas for improvement and develop action plans to improve results
- Partners and provides strategic guidance with TA stakeholders to build consensus and alignment with specific program and construction initiatives
- Leads team in their mission to support cost-efficient and impactful construction, facilities and campus projects to ensure that all TA projects complete to established brand standards
- Leads the Design team and provides direction on technical drawings/renderings to team.
- Works directly with Procurement to support RFP activities as it relates to consultants and FF&E
- Develops and maintains strategic relationships and communication with key TA supplier partners
- Partners with cross-functionally Stakeholders across the organization to oversee project execution with corporate and field leadership teams with the goal of program efficiency
- Leads strategic direction and oversight of activities related to TA’s physical assets, construction and renovation projects, services and HQ operations
- Supports strategic real estate planning, acquisitions and development
- Manages day-to-day operational activities for capital projects, including design and construction
- Leverages resources to address competing priorities while spearheading the department mission to maintain, construct, refresh and operate clean, safe and accessible TA and HQ facilities
- Advances TA’s construction and facilities initiatives by providing policy and planning advice
- Champions efficiency ideas and cost reduction measures that include efficient materials utilization
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture or Construction preferred
- 10 years of retail project / construction management experience preferred. Gas/Oil experience a must
- Broad experience in areas of strategic site development, construction, design, facilities management and finance
- Experience overseeing operational improvements that drive increased profitability, greater operational effectiveness and efficiency, with a focus on continuous improvement
- Solid strategic experience with a demonstrated ability to assess the strength and weaknesses of the business and identify areas of improvement
- Strong PC proficiency with emphasis on Microsoft Office programs including Excel & Word
- Strong analytical and organizational skills to evaluate current systems and processes
- Exceptional presentation and communication skills along with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, including executives
- Must live in greater Cleveland, OH area or able to relocate
- Ability to travel
