What are the responsibilities and job description for the Rail Specialist position at Travelopia?
Position summary:
Reporting to the operations manager, we're looking for a Rail Specialist who will support booking and ticketing rail for FIT travelers in Europe! Additionally, as a member of the operations team, you'll support the sales process by processing reservations after conversion, confirming services, and issuing travel documents. This position works directly with international vendors and answers calls from customers regarding travel documents!
What you'll do:
* Provide excellent customer service, support, and information to all company personnel and customers, while accurately quoting, confirming, and issuing rail tickets and reservations using Rail Europe
* Partner with training staff on rail products and assist in supporting continuing education needs. Update staff with Rail product and procedure changes
* Accurately process requests and confirmations for hotels, transfers, sightseeing and cars while following company policies and procedures
* Assist managers with customer service emails, research, follow up, and calls; render a timely response to all co-workers and customers; following through with resolution
* Ability to make independent decisions with customers and coworkers while maintaining our customer service standards and financial profitability
* Maintain ongoing communication with manager about procedures and problems and offer suggestions for resolutions
* Process email correspondence and implement quality control standards of final documentation sent to clients
* Keep queues at a manageable level, process, and ship documents
* Participate in the emergency duty rotation, which includes being on-call for one week every 1-2 months, while adhering to our emergency duty operational standards
What we want from you:
* Minimum education requires a high school graduate or GED
* Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
* Courteous and professional telephone manner and good written and verbal communication skills
* Proficient in MS Office, including MS Excel, MS Word, and Outlook
* Proficiency in Rail Europe ERA system a plus
