TRC Advanced Energy is seeking a qualified individual to support commercial and industrial energy efficiency and demand management programs in New Jersey. Responsibilities may include energy auditing, energy analysis, energy modeling, technical writing, and project management for multiple commercial and industrial energy efficiency projects and/or customers. Candidates must possess strong technical capabilities including knowledge of building systems, energy efficiency, demand management, green building and sustainability. The desired candidate will work collaboratively with the Advanced Energy team and clients to provide auditing support and implement market transforming programs that encourage energy efficiency across the Northeast.
The candidate will be presented with the challenge of a range of commercial projects with a variety of energy systems. There will be significant interface with clients that may require local travel. The position requires the ability to manage projects, and lead, direct, and coordinate the work of team members (internal and external) of varied backgrounds. This position requires flexibility; diversity of technical expertise; strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; and excellent customer care skills. The candidate will rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and perform a variety of complicated tasks.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Conducting facility ASHRAE II level audits for K-12 public schools, hospitals, municipality, and county-owned facilities throughout NJ.
- Performing facility utility analysis and energy benchmarking using EnergyStar Portfolio Manager.
- Conducting project fieldwork, energy savings analysis, and report production using standard resources and templates and custom tool development.
- Working on a variety of energy saving calculations, strategies, and projects.
- Delivering high quality reports and audit calculations requiring minimal QA/QC efforts.
- Managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines and client expectations.
- Reviewing calculations and assumptions used to estimate or measure savings due to energy efficiency projects.
- Keeping managers aware of project schedules and progress and providing regular time charging/budget updates as requested.
- Conducting on-site meetings and presentations and provide answers to technical and program related questions.
- Staying informed about energy issues and industry trends through regular technical reading and participation in local and national professional organizations.
Desired Skills And Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Energy). Other engineering disciplines will be considered.
- 1-5 years of experience with ASHRAE Level I and II energy auditing, report writing, and energy analysis.
- Knowledge of building systems commissioning, HVAC design, energy efficiency technologies, green building and high-performance design.
- Experience in energy conservation measures work scope recommendations including measures such as air infiltration reduction, HVAC upgrades, motors, lighting, building shell/envelope, appliances, refrigeration, and lighting.
- Preference will be given to candidates familiar with energy saving strategies who have experience calculating the associated energy savings for measures listed above
- CEM or CEA accreditation (or equivalent) is a plus.
- EIT and PE accreditation is a plus.
- Understanding of marketing strategy and market analysis techniques is a strong plus.
- Aptitude for communicating (written and oral) technical and program concepts to clients, contractors, consumers, and other interested people or organizations.
- Team-oriented, hands-on, highly skilled, adaptive, and client-focused.
