As a Security Specialist, you will be acting as a Security Specialist providing personnel, information, and physical security support to all Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs) and indoctrinated personnel at Treasury.

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.M., if related.
OR
You may qualify by a combination of successfully completed graduate level education and specialized experience. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 36 semester hours (54 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.

Specialized experience for the GS-12: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
- Experience in the coordination and implementation of plans, policies, and procedures necessary to safeguard classified and sensitive information, intelligence, intelligence sources, methods, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), and Department assets (including personnel, information, documents, Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities [SCIFs] and other resources).
Specialized experience for the GS-11: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
- Experience implementing plans, policies, and procedures necessary to safeguard classified and sensitive information, intelligence, intelligence sources and methods, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Department assets (including personnel, information, documents, Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities [SCIFs] and other resources); AND
- Experience using classified databases (i.e., Scattered Castles or Joint Personnel Adjudication System [JPAS]).

Responsibilities:
Pursuant to 50 USC § 3024 (v), and with concurrence and consultation with the Director of National Intelligence and the Director of the Office of Personnel Management, this position is being established in the excepted service as an element of the Intelligence Community within the Department of the Treasury.The following are the duties of this position at the GS-13. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
- Provide assistance in carrying out the policies of the Director of National Intelligence to ensure that SCI and other compartmented material is properly controlled, transmitted, destroyed, packaged, safeguarded, and disseminated only to persons with authorized access and a need to know (where appropriate) brought under accountability.
- Provide advice and assistance on security matters related to intelligence to Treasury's Cognizant Security Authority (CSA), other Treasury officials, and supported activities.
- Provide specialized guidance on SCI classification matters, sanitization, downgrading, dissemination, and disclosure de-compartmentalization, and operational use.
