Accounts Payable Accountant

Summary: The person in this position is responsible for the Accounts Payable process..

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepares vouchers and allocates invoices to proper accounts
• Processes check runs
• Reviews invoices for accuracy
• Receives invoices and routes for approval
• Resolves disputed invoices with vendors
• Answers inquiries from vendors and staff
• Operates accounts payable software for voucher and check processing
• Maintains paid and unpaid voucher filing system
• Maintains vendor files, tax forms and account information
• Prepares 1099 reporting
• Retrieves vouchers/documents for staff or auditors

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university preferred; and four to seven years of related experience and/or training; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Minimum of three years accounts payable experience
• Ability to communicate effectively (written and oral)
• Good computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and using the Internet.
• Experience with Great Plains software preferred
• Great attention to detail
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions, and prepare correspondence, and memos.
