What are the responsibilities and job description for the Regional Outreach Worker position at Treatment Alternatives for Safe Communities?
Overview: Youth & Family Services (YFS) help parents and young people strive to become healthy and restore their relationships. This division works in partnership with human services, child welfare systems, juvenile courts, and community-based service providers so that together we can help individuals and families obtain the services and skills they need to live in positive, healthy ways.
Program Summary: This position provides mobile assessment services in the home, office or field and supportive services to individuals in their treatment journey to promote successful recovery. The Outreach worker will work with high risk caseloads, co-occurring clients, families with children and develop supportive authentic peer-to-peer relationships.
Essential Duties:
- Contact the parent to encourage parents to complete the Juvenile Court Assessment Program (JCAP) assessment.
- Assist individuals with identify personal interests, goals, strengths, and weaknesses regarding recovery; as well as educate and coordinate program services and resources.
- Provide transportation to court hearings, supportive services, agencies and resources
- Contact, locate and re-engage individuals into SUD treatment services
- Supports the individual in transitioning from a directed service plan to a self-directed recovery plan
- Provides referrals for identified needs of the individual and crisis intervention services
- Research supportive service organizations and develop a community services database
- Collaborate with community-based partners to coordinate and monitor client services
- Assists support staff with specimen collection as needed and maintains compliance with chain of custody protocols
- Attends all trainings and internal and external meetings as required
Job Requirements
- Some college, B.A. preferred
- Experience working with individuals with SUD to care for self and family member
- Must understand and respect individual's unique path to recovery
- Must possess a valid Illinois Drivers license and care insurance
- Must possess a commitment to the recovery community
- Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work with a diverse population
- Within one year of hire, will be required to obtain Certified Recovery Support Specialist certification (CRSS) through the Illinois Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Professional Certification Association
- Knowledge of community support resources, organizations, governmental agencies, and nonprofits
