What are the responsibilities and job description for the Distillation Operator position at Treatt USA?
Working under the guidance of the Distillation Supervisor, the Distillation Operator will perform and record all steps of the distillation process. The Operator will provide QC and lab personnel with samples for quality testing and will dispense WIP materials into various types of drums and containers. The Operator will barrel, label, and appropriately store the intermediate materials and file all necessary production documentation and logs.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Load raw materials into stills from tank farm via the use of vacuums, pump systems and hoses.
- Perform still start up procedures. This includes connecting hoses and opening valves and involves a significant amount of climbing up and down.
- Take and document regular equipment readings. This involves a significant amount of climbing up and down.
- Produce product samples for QC testing and analysis.
- Troubleshoot still operation issues and make necessary changes and adjustments and notify Distillation Manager of any production problems.
- Dispense intermediate materials into various types and sizes of storage containers.
- Weigh and measure materials using both standard and metric systems.
- Properly label material containers and update inventory documentation.
- Appropriately store finished materials in cold rooms, freezers and warehouse locations. This includes use of a forklift for storage of drummed and bulk materials.
- Perform standard still cleaning and sanitation processes.
- Backup shipping and receiving in the loading and unloading of tankers and scale house operations.
EDUCATION & TRAINING
This position requires good knowledge, understanding and use of the English language, and basic math and measuring that is generally demonstrated by the attainment of a high school diploma or general equivalence degree. Prior production experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Qualified applicants will have the following abilities Ability to regularly practice safe work habits. Ability to safely operate a forklift in a production environment Ability to work overtime including nights and weekends when business needs require. Ability to perform basic math equations.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Environment:
This is a production environment that is cool in the winter and warm in the summer. Some duties are performed in cold rooms and freezers. This environment can be noisy and wet at times. This position requires work at elevations above 20 feet.
