What are the responsibilities and job description for the Event Chef position at Tres LA Catering?

We are looking for passionate and experienced Event Sous Chefs to join our team!
**THIS POSITION IS ON-CALL/EVENT BASED**
Responsibilities
- Know and comply consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, kitchen rules, policies, and procedures
- Take inventory of all items required for station set-up and determine those items that will require preparation
- Notify Chefs of expected shortages
- Assists with other duties as assigned by Executive Chef or Sous Chef
- Portion food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications
- Make recommendations for maintenance, repair and upkeep of the line prep area and equipment
- Maintain a clean workstation while executing service with speed and precision
- Follow proper plate presentation and garnish set up for all dishes
- Follow sanitation guidelines set forth by the Health Department
- Close the event kitchen properly by following the closing checklist for kitchen or venue stations
- Assist others in closing the kitchen
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of all the menu offerings
Qualifications
- 5 sear minimum experience in cooking
- Great communication skills with managers, kitchen, and dining room personnel
- Highly organized and efficient
- Ability to multitask and work in a high energy/quick pace environment
- Willingness to learn and take direction
- Willingness to work during the week and weekend
Expectations
- Flexible since work schedule may vary between weekdays, weekends, and holidays
- Shifts will be typically between 8-10 hours per shift
- Always act in a professional manner
- Demonstrate teamwork in all areas, including at the event location or kitchen
- Work with a positive attitude in all types of situations
- Follow safety and sanitation rules and laws at all times
- Welcome and accept feedback and coaching from the management team in order to maintain and grow as an employee
- Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 20-50 pounds
- Be able to work in a standing position for up to 8 hours
- ServSafe California Food Handlers Card required
- Reliable mode of transportation to work and to arrive on time

Pay: $30.00 - $33.00 per hour
