Electrical Engineer I
The Electrical Engineer I designs and implements electrical controls systems for automated material handling equipment. This is project/application-based work that includes development of specifications, electrical device layouts, schematics, and panel drawings. Application development and testing will take place in the office. Completed work is installed and tested at the clients’ facility.
As an Electrical Engineer I, you will be involved in projects from the concept phase through design, programming, testing and onsite support. You will serve as the primary point of contact between clients and our company and will have direct interaction with the clients throughout each project. On large projects, you will work within a design team and for smaller projects you will work on your own with supervision from team leaders, project engineers, project managers and your supervisor.

You’ll be…
- Meeting with both client and internal project teams to define applications and produce functional specification or description of operation documents
- Develop Ethernet, Ethernet/IP, and ASi communication networks
- Generating project specific documentation using standard company formats.
- Using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical for electrical design including device layouts, schematics, control panel design and communication architecture diagrams
- Component selection and bill of material preparation
- Customizing standard products to meet the requirements of each project
- Interact with mechanical engineering, control panel fabrication and electrical installation personnel
- Participating in design reviews with project teams
- Perform on-site technical checkout, often working with installation teams
- Perform on-site system commissioning at client sites to validate controls design & software
- Providing customer training and support during project turnover to the end user
- Providing continuing support for finished projects
- Report to lead engineers, project engineers, project managers and department supervisor/manager

You must also have strong technical and team leadership skills, as well as, solid organizational, time-management and prioritization skills. Candidates will have excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of people at all levels of expertise.

Specific qualifications for the Electrical Engineer I position include:
- Bachelor of Science Degree (or pursuing degree) from an accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), Electrical Engineering Technology (BSEET) or equivalent experience
- Experience of 1 Years, Internship within material handling industry desired or related engineering experience
- Experience in the material handing/equipment controls industry preferred but not required
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background and drug test
- Qualified to work in the United States
- Ability to work effectively in a warehouse environment for system testing, including climbing ladders and moving around on platforms to maneuver in and around equipment
- Willing to follow site safety rules such as wearing personal protective equipment (hard hats, safety shoes, hearing protection.
- Capable of standing and walking for long periods of time
- Ability to multi-task and maintain deadlines and attention to detail
- Must have good organizational and leadership skills
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Flexibility to travel around the country, often via air
- Ability to work non-traditional hours that may include nights, weekends and/or holidays
- Ability to travel 30-40%, upon a calendar year basis to job sites both domestically and abroad. Travel may include weekends and/or holidays.
- Membership, accreditation or awards in relevant industry groups, a plus
