Job Description
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing and overseeing the tax compliance and reporting functions for the organization. This includes preparing and reviewing tax returns, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations, and providing guidance and support to other members of the accounting team. This position can be either part time or full time hours.
Responsibilities
- The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing and ensuring compliance with state and local sales and use tax laws and regulations
- This role involves preparing and filing tax returns, conducting tax research, and providing guidance on tax-related matters
- The Senior Accountant will work closely with various departments to ensure accurate tax reporting and to support tax planning and audit defense initiatives
- Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax returns
- Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations
- Provide guidance and support to other members of the accounting team
- Research and analyze tax issues and provide recommendations to management
- Assist with tax planning and forecasting
- Manage relationships with external tax advisors and auditors
- Stay up-to-date on changes in tax laws and regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
- CPA certification
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and tax preparation software
- Experience with Thomas Reuters OneSource tax software
